Are Students Safe Enough?

I don't agree that every student bringing a gun to school will solve the issue. Security guards at school should be allowed to protect the students and a carry a light handgun. However, the guards should have too much power as to abuse the position. I think that if too many students get their hands on a weapon, it will do more harm than good. Students will be fighting over the slightest argument and take it out by shooting each other.
Guns should remain restricted on college campuses. An increase in security, where the gaps can be filled and improvements made, should be enforced. Guns cause catastrophic results when shooting at close range and can cause serious health problems. Shooting a gun alone without earplugs can cause deafness over time. If the gun is jammed then you're in more trouble with backfire or a possible explosion.
The authorities handled the situation with care and caution. However, in this situation if students had a gun it may have been less deaths and just maybe the suspect could have been caught if he were shot in the hands. Without his hands he cannot shoot anyone else. My condolences go out to those families who lost their loved ones.
