The dismissal of General Stanley McChrystal yesterday, Wednesday 23 June, 2010, is a sad case of insubordination that United States President, Barrack Obama clearly implied in his speech at the White House. The President or Commander in Chief referenced that Gen. McChrystal served a great term of 34 years in the Army and he deeply regretted that this incident occurred. The article that angered the President was within the magazine Rolling Stone, where Gen. McChrystal failed to uphold political formalities. Having an opinion is one thing, but to undermine the President's authority is another story.
The President is interested in the Afghan strategy set forth in the original platform which Gen. Petraeus was a part of long before this incident. By making this difficult decision, the President said "War is bigger than any one man or woman." I believe he meant that in order to sustain healthy military, ideas must be focused on the mission & not swayed by negative opposition. He also announced his love and support to the men and women in uniform and the American people.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)I think Barack Obama has the most challenging job in the world. He took on such a mess, and is criticized at every turn. It's nice to read somebody writing something sane about him. You're right Jennifer. He is taking on a big load and the economy's deficit is still unstable. It will be a while before the U.S. has a better economy. The next President has an enormous job to fill.
Greetings -Most of us have heard the saying, "Damned if you do - damned if you don't" That aptly applies relative to our President. The latest is the issue about the proposed mosque in NY. Certainly, I appreciate the media because they do much to inform us but sometimes what they do amounts to nit-picking.Yes nit-picking can bring so many opinions, suggestions, and recommendations into the picture. The media exaggerates ideas quite often, so it's not a surprise. I think that building the mosque in NY is a bad idea, especially for the folks who lost their loved ones in 911. They should find another location for it.
