Celeste moved quickly to her right to avoid the collision. The movement of the car was quick and sudden and she barely made it out of the way. The assailant was apparently trying to hit her but failed. He pressed on the gas and did not intend to stop for anyone almost hitting a young child and mother near the corner. He dashed around the corner so fast that it was almost impossible to read his license plate. Someone is trying to kill me, she thought. Her senses were numb and her legs were shaking. She could still hear the streaking wheels replaying in her mind over and over again. Spectators caught a glimpse of what happened and ran up to Celeste to ask if she was okay.
"Are you okay?" he asked breathing as if he had just run a 10k marathon.
"I'm really worried. Things are getting out of control. I have to call the cops." Celeste was unaware that one of the spectators already called the cops right after the incident. She was hugging Gerald so tightly that no one could pry them apart. Her eyes opened wider than ever before similar to a frightened toddler. Before Gerald could speak, the spectator quickly looked toward Gerald and told him that the police were on their way.
"Thank you sir," then turned toward Celeste. "What do you mean this has gone too far? Talk to me," panting but getting out the words.
"I have been getting some strange calls all day. A couple at work then on my cell phone, which she swiftly pulled out of her purse. "I have to report this. I'm scared. I'm so scared," weeping on his shoulder.
"Yes we do. Why didn't you tell me this earlier? You know I worry about you. Lets get this settled once and for all," caressing and consoling her with his strong hands.
"I was afraid to tell anyone, but I told my supervisor at work and suggested I look into it. Yes we need to end this," while searching for the anonymous calls. She found the two anonymous calls but it didn't give any clues as to whom it belonged to. Throughout all the commotion, she forgot about her friend Rebecca and her phone call.
"Hi Mam, I'm Deputy Jones, David Jones. I received a call in this area about a hit and run. Are you hurt mam?" running up to the suspected hit and run scene. He wore shades, big mustache, large eyebrows, yellow teeth from chewing tobacco and slightly obese. He had a pen and pad ready to jot notes. He apparently had some manners, because he called her mam after almost every sentence.
"Officer, someone tried to hit my girlfriend with a car. I couldn't get his license plate number in time," Gerald said frantically. "I tried to catch him, but it happened so fast."
The Officer radioed to another officer and gave codes that a hit and run car maybe still in the area.
"Do you happen to know what the make is or model even the color of the vehicle? Anything that could help us find it," the officer requested? Celeste was still catching her breath, allowing Gerald to answer questions about the vehicle description.
Celeste was still in shock but managed to pull herself together enough to answer a few questions. Her back began to ache again from the tension of her movements. "It's all my fault," she said to Gerald and the police. "I received some prank calls this morning and I didn't do anything. I'm scared."
"Wait a minute mam, swiftly looking at Celeste then back to Gerald who was giving a general description of the vehicle. "Now proceed," Jones said after using the radio again with code words. "We'll try to locate the vehicle if we can mam."
He finished up with the other officer and began asking more questions about the incident. "Is there anything that may have caused this? Any enemies? Gambling debts etc?"
"All I know is someone has been harassing me with phone calls that are marked private," showing the missed calls to the officer. I am not sure if they're connected. I just want whoever it is to leave me alone." Her face was covered in tears and fear. She pulled out her pills and took 2 of them to ease the pain from her back. Flexoral was her way out, at least for a moment. Gerald was hugging her with his left arm while trying to make sense of the entire ordeal. He was beginning to put the pieces together as the conversation continued.
"Mam, I would like to confiscate your phone to perform some traces as to whom the calls are coming from. I could contact one the detectives in the department to help out," he said with compassion looking at her sobbing expression. Gerald was grateful that the policeman was actually doing an excellent job. DC cops have a tough job to do.
"Sure, I would love that," gently handing him the phone.
"Here's my card. I will be contacting you shortly, but I am going to assist with the hunt." His radio was making sounds and chattering that was unrecognized by an average citizen. "I'm on my way," the cop responded as he quickly jumped on his motorcycle leaving the scene.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)I am waiting for : In The Morning Part VIII James.Exciting. I was quite nervous while reading this story.Part VIII is around the corner. Also I am taking volunteers for editing, so I will be able to concentrate on the storyline versus editing. I think editing takes up about half my time. Just say the word.
I don't know why, but I don't trust that policeman! Not sure I trust Gerald, either. The police and Gerald are straightforward that I know. I spoke to Gerald the other day and he's doing fine...lol. Also I am taking volunteers for editing, so I will be able to concentrate on the storyline versus editing. I think editing takes up about half my time. Just say the word. This time I'm afraid I can't. I have a whole ton of editing myself to do myself and I've got so much work on different fronts that my head is spinning.Okay, but thanks for responding. I need a Searchwarp secretary...lol.
