This tip is for novice users of Microsoft Word 2007. Basic chart knowledge is required.
Say you have a chart and you want to format the axis or the secondary axis: right click on the chart near the axis, select Format Axis and a pop up box will appear. Select Axis Options if it's not already selected.
The areas of concern for this tip are for the functions: Minimum, Maximum, Major unit, and Minor unit.
Auto - Word will automatically assign an axis for the data
Fixed you can manually enter data
Minimum: data can be typed in if fixed, grayed out if Auto is selected
Maximum: data can be typed in if fixed, grayed out if Auto is selected
Major unit: data can be typed in if fixed, grayed out if Auto is selected
Minor unit: data can be typed in if fixed, grayed out if Auto is selected
Once you are done with the axis, you can choose Close or remain in the box and select other attributes. There are many options that I will explain in another tip, but there are a variety of functions you can do to charts to make them better.

It's there, but it's very short. It has the instructions for formatting the axis. It's more of a snapshot versus an article.
Good tip, James. I think it's a great idea to have a snapshot with one piece of info, so it's clear and easy to remember.I tried adding a pic but it has a 100 kb limit. The pic is too large.
